When he needed a place for his elder parents to live near his home, Timothy decided to build a one-bedroom home in the back yard of his Oakland home. He needed a dwelling that would be elder-friendly and match the style of his home.

Construction involved demolishing the existing garage and chicken coop to make room for the new home. Timothy also wanted to protect a tree on the property, and an arborist was consulted to ensure that the new structure would not kill the tree.
The accessory dwelling includes one bedroom, a full bathroom, a great room with a kitchen and living area, and washer/dryer connections. There's also a large closet, and a loft over the bathroom provides additional storage space.
