AB 1154 – No Parking Required for Small ADUs

AB 1154 removes parking requirements for ADUs under 500 sq ft. It also allows Junior ADUs with their own bathroom even if there’s no owner living onsite. A big win for design flexibility and affordable housing options.

This makes it easier to build smaller, more affordable homes—especially in areas where parking would otherwise be a barrier. It also aligns JADU rules more closely with regular ADUs, encouraging more creative housing solutions.
